My Story

My health journey has been far from smooth.

Growing up, unhealthy habits were the norm in my family, and junk food, fast food, and sugar were always available at home. The older I got, the more my health suffered, and I started experiencing troubling autoimmune symptoms that left me deeply concerned about my future health. In my thirties, I faced a scary crossroads: with my medical education, I thought I was on track to be diagnosed with multiple sclerosis within the next 10 years. I was familiar with the roadblocks people face in evaluating and diagnosing their autoimmune conditions. I also knew that our treatments are often limited in their ability to slow or reverse symptoms.

I didn’t feel very hopeful at the time, so I mostly tried to ignore my symptoms.

It was a turning point when I realized that many of my patients, also with “weird” symptoms, were not finding the solutions they needed, despite thorough and appropriate medical workups.

Fueled by a passion for nutrition that had been growing in me since I was a teen, I started looking for answers.

This led me to make a commitment to cleaning up my diet and lifestyle, which I adopted in both my personal life and medical practice. As a doctor, I started educating my patients on the role of nutrition in overall well-being.

Throughout my medical practice, I continually witnessed firsthand the life-changing results that improving diet can have.

In my own health journey, diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management became my biggest priorities, which drastically improved both my mental and physical health. I emphasize whole foods, healthy proteins, yoga, strength training, and getting enough quality sleep. These crucial factors are my starting place with each client I work with. As a health coach, my main goal is to help clients overcome their personal challenges, which are preventing them from achieving their optimal health. Once their health improves, we start to see improvements in bothersome symptoms such as weight gain, fatigue, etc., and often even autoimmune symptoms.

My 8-step process — which is personalized to each individual’s lifestyle — enables sustainable changes that propel you toward a lifetime of improved health.

It’s important to pair this coaching with traditional medical advice and oversight, as nutrition and lifestyle coaching alone are not sufficient for many people to attain optimal health.

I encourage my clients to take a well-rounded approach to their overall health, and this includes maintaining an ongoing open relationship with their primary care provider. My role is to meet my clients where they are. Life can get so busy, and it’s too easy for your health to take a backseat. I help everyone I work with find simple, personalized health solutions — their ‘Sanitas’ — so they can live the life they want to live.
